Cybersecurity Month — Hot Takes

It’s cybersecurity month. Here are the hot-takes from Apozy. We’ll keep the sarcasm to a minimum.

1. Users matter most. When you’re considering security, always consider your users to be both your weakest and strongest pieces of the puzzle. When armed with the right knowledge and tools, users can be your greatest ally. Don’t discount them.

2. Using data correctly. As an information security pro(you are pro, right?), you need to have a data source behind every decision you make. Big data is great but without an action item attached or a way to digest it, what can you do with it? Make sure you’re using information appropriately. Apozy can help.

3. Training still works. Whether it be security awareness or keeping your team’s skills up to date, budget both time and money for training. With the Equifax breach in the news, this is a great teachable moment to pass along knowledge to individuals who may have gotten lax. For your security teams, it’s time for them to learn the latest and greatest in security technique.

4. Consolidate your toolset. You’ve spent a lot on disparate products and tools, it’s time you got them together. Wherever possible, aggregate data and remove tools that have a large overlap. The security marketing engine has been pushing products that do one thing as multiple things. It’s time to trim the fat.

5. The browser is the new OS, protect it. With most products moving to the cloud and applications living in the browser, it’s time to secure them as such. Keep them up to date, keep them privacy centered, and protect corporate data. The best way to do this? Stopping phishing, malware, and web attacks with Apozy. Learn more here.

Let’s have a great Q4!
